{9/52} Legally Blond

I went with some of my teacher friends to see Legally Blond at the 5th Avenue last week. First we went to The Wild Ginger for dinner which was fabulous. We then went to the theater. We got our seats at a "teacher discount." Apparently, they must assume teachers have good eyes, because we were in the second to last row! We moved up several rows at intermission. Oh well, it was a cute, upbeat show and we had fun time!

Bellevue Arboretum

Kristin and I took the kids out for "breakfast for lunch" at one of my favorite pancake places - "Chases Pancake Coral" in Bellevue. We then went to the Bellevue arboretum. Granted it is probably the least attractive time of year to view the gardens, but we wanted to do something OUTDOORS. We'll visit again in the spring/summer.
The weather was so beautiful for February!

Do you really think all of you can fit on this fountain?

Much better!
Claire, Alec, Evan, Caroline, and Hannah

Proof that spring is on its way!

{8/52} February Break

I think I'm a little behind on my "52 Project." Well, this one is from last week when the kids were on midwinter break. Since Kent was on strike in the fall, we only had two days off! On one of the days I was at work, David took the kids and Jones on a hike to Twin Falls (which I believe is in North Bend). David doesn't take pictures like I do, but at least I have this one to post! It was a three mile hike and they weren't sure how Jones would do with his little legs. David expected to have to carry him on his shoulders, but he didn't have to. Luckily, there were other dogs on the trail and this always keeps Jones going. I was sad I didn't get to go but I'm glad they had a good time!

Alec's new and improved room

Alec's room was much in need of an overhaul. He doesn't like to get rid of anything so we were seeing visions of "Hoarders" in his future. The biggest problem was how to display his lego sets. We found the perfect shelf at IKEA. It holds many of his lego sets and some of his favorite books. His frogs recently died, so we were able to move out the frog tank and a toy box. Now he has more room to . . . build more lego sets I guess!

This is my dad's old chair.

A nice clean desk to work at.

Chocolate Valentines

On Valentine's Day we dipped strawberries in warm chocolate . . . yum.
David told Alec he had lots of chocolate on his face, we laughed becaused when we looked at David, he had some chocolate on his too. Never to be outdone, we glanced over at Hannah to find her chocolate Ronald McDonald face!

A Day at the Spa

Hannah has always love playing salon/spa. For Christmas she got a foot bath so she invited her brother to "make an appointment." He soaked his feet and she worked on his hairstyle. When I came upstairs to check things out I was surprised to see the footbath overflowing with bubbles!

{7/52} Twin Day

It was Twin Day at Glacier Park on Friday. Hannah and Madelynn were twins from head to toe, even both having bright pink nail polish. I had taken the girls shopping at Target a few weeks ago so they could pick out their tops. It was fun to watch them shop and decide on an outfit together. They looked very cute!

{6/52} Thunderbirds

Saturday we went to the Showare Center in Kent to see a Thunderbird Hockey game. It was "bam, bam" night so the kids got these terrible blow-up plastic things to bang. Of course, everyone got them and they were loud! The game started off good but by the end we were down 3 to 5. It really was fun though - very action packed.

Alec absolutely loved it. He said he liked it even better than a Mariner game which surprised me. He stood up and whooped and hollered whenever they made a goal. He did not, however, chant "Portland sucks" with the rest of the crowd.

I wouldn't say there were any major fights, just many scuffles. You definitely don't take your kids to a hockey game to learn sportsmanship (from the players or the fans).
We did have a good time and I wouldn't mind going to another game next season.

Just for fun

My dad converted some old family slides to digital. Fun to look at the old pictures - love to see the fashions of the early '70's!

{5/52} ACME

I chose the picture of the old ACME group (Alec, Colin, Myah, Elliot) for my picture of the week because last weekend the moms had a reunion. Tami, Christine, Alana, and I depended on each other a lot when the kids were babies and spent lots of time together until the kids got to be about school age. Christine and I both live in MV so we see each other a lot, and Colin and Alec are such good friends. Tami and I really try, but the distance (okay Des Moines isn't that far) keeps us apart (and hectic, hectic schedules). Last weekend we went to Christine's condo in Westport. We had such a great time catching up, drinking wine, scrapbooking, watching movies, and even enjoying sunshine on the deck the next day (unbelievable!). Alana also cooked us a delicious gourmet meal. We're saving the last weekend in January for a yearly retreat.
I didn't even feel like I was away from Hannah though. She texted me at least fifty times!!
