Halloween 2008
Jones on Halloween
Star Wars meets Hannah Montana
What a night! The kids trick-or-treated for hours! Christine and I took them out for the first round and then David did. They were so into it. The night was perfect too - no rain (after a very rainy day) and it was actually pretty warm for an October night. They had a very fun time!

Alec's hobby
Alec comes home from school and within minutes he is creating something new out of his legos - usually some kind of Star Wars ship. He follows the directions from the sets he gets and we are always amazed at how quickly he can put them together. His own creations are just as cool. I do have to say that finding them displayed in the bathroom is not really what I had in mind for decorating though. He has literally run out of places to display them, so if anyone has any ideas of where to get a display case please let me know!

Buddies
This picture was taken at the end of the year soccer party. The party was held in the airplane hanger of one of the teammate's family - very cool. Alec and Brian have been friends since first grade. He is super outgoing and always makes Alec laugh. His sister Katie and Hannah are friends too. We have really enjoyed getting to know their family!
Blue Thunder
Hannah played soccer this year. She really liked it because she had several friends on the team. David ended up being the Assistant Coach. The season was just the right length and we ended up having a lot of nice days. My action shots aren't too good, so here is Hannah on a water break! Her favorite and strongest position was that of defender. Our season ending party was at a teammates house which was a lot of fun.
Pioneer Farm
Hannah's class is learning about early Americans and took a field trip to Pioneer Farms. The kids got to experience what it was like to be a pioneer. They went for a wagon ride, jumped in the hay, spent time with farm animals, went in a 100 year old cabin, and even got their hair curled from a curling iron heated up by the flame of a candle! It was a fun, hands-on learning!

Rally for Change - Joe Biden

We went with our friends, Matt, Christine, and Colin to see Joe Biden speak at Cheney Stadium. He joked that the stadium would be called the Obama/Biden stadium for the day (no Cheney!) It was energizing to be with 12,000 other people who are ready for a change!! David was approached by an interviewer from the local NPR station. You can read/hear it at this link:
The kids were really excited to go to the rally. In fact, I was just about to back out when Christine called and said Colin and Alec (who had spent the night) were so pumped up to go! I hope it will be something they always remember. It was fun to go with our fellow Obama supporters - the Woodwards!
Obi and Hannah
We love Halloween! I'm happy the kids will be able to wear their costumes at least three times. We dressed up when we went to the Woodward's house for dinner. We're going to a neighborhood Halloween party on Saturday and then Halloween night. Now David and I have to come up with something for the neighborhood party . . .

I don't think our political leanings are any secret . . .
We are cautiously optimistic about this election. This is such an exciting time and we are hopeful that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will put the United States on the right track again. Social issues in our country have always been so important to us but the economy and international issues, like the war in Iraq, have made us even more concerned about our world and our children's lives.

Who are these people?
June 27, 1992
16 years ago . . .

Most of the pictures I have on the computer are recent, within the past two years, since we got a digital camera. I don't have many old ones (and this is old!) but came across this one. Wow - 24 sounds so young to get married now. We've been married 16 years and known each other for 24! Pretty crazy!

Fall Traditions
It is tradition for Alec to get a green pumpkin every year. When he was little he was pretty obsessed with the color green. I remember he said that he wanted a green pumpkin on our way to the pumpkin patch in Carnation that we always go to. I remember thinking, oh no - he's going to be upset that the pumpkins are only orange! Luckily he got his green pumpkin and has done so every year since!
Dustbunnies!
Hannah was in the school production of "The Princess and the Pea." She got to play a dustbunny! She had to go to several days of rehearsals after school and then performed for the school and then two performances for family and friends. She got to sing and dance with the other dustbunnies. Very cute.

First day of school
I can't believe it - 2nd and 4th grade! I am so glad that Alec and Hannah love school. They have good friends they like to see everyday and really like their teachers. This year they are in their second year of "looping" classrooms so there seemed to be no nervousness as they knew their classmates and teachers.
Alec, Colin, and Hannah
Alec and Colin met when they were just weeks old. Christine and I hit it off at an infant massage class. We learned that our very good friends, Tami and Alana, were neighbors and friends, thus ACME (Alec, Colin, Myah, and Elliot) was born. Alec and Colin have remained good friends and love to get together and play whenever we can arrange it!

Jones's favorite place . . . Hannah's favorite place
This summer we went to my Uncle Larry's new house in West Seattle. It was very modern and cool with a great garden/yard. He lives the good life, always traveling to exotic places. He was in administration at Bellevue Community College when David and I went there. I have always liked visiting him - he has great taste in decorating, food, wine, and is just a fun person to be around.

Hannah has been taking piano lessons since last spring. She takes lessons from a friend in the neighborhood. Her teacher has told me that Hannah is truly talented and is one of her best students (she says she's just not saying that.) I can "brag" about this as I know I have nothing to do with it. I have no musical talent and cannot help her whatsoever. Luckily she is doing very well and practices every day without ever being asked to do so!
