April Fools Day

Today definitely felt like April Fool's Day. It had to be a joke. A field trip to the zoo and it was snowing?!!! It was really coming down when we got to school this morning. Hannah already wasn't exactly thrilled about the day as her two best friends were in a group together and she was grouped with two boys from the class. Well, we got on the bus and apparently there was a mix-up and instead of sending three buses, they only sent two. They tried to crowd everyone on the two buses but it wasn't going to work so we had to wait until the third one came, wait for 30 minutes! We finally got to the zoo where we froze as we searched for animals. The boys were impressed by the size of the elephant eggs they saw in the savannah area. At least I felt good that they came away learning one thing - that elephants DON'T lay eggs! When the time came and we were on the bus again, cold and wet, I was thankful to be heading home. But not so fast. One of the buses had broken down. They once again tried to crowd everyone on two buses. The drivers then received a "negative" to transporting all of us on two buses and asked for volunteers to wait at the zoo until a mechanic arrived. Luckily some parents did so we were on our way - a little later than expected, but on our way!
PS Hannah got to sit with her girl-friends on the way back which made her a much happier little girl. (Thanks Aaron.)
